Memorial service for the fallen heroes of the War of ’40

Dear friends,

The Consulate General of Greece in St. Petersburg and the Consul General, Mr. Dimitrios Sparos, invite you to a memorial service in honor of the fallen heroes of October 28. The ceremony will take place at the Putilov Church, located at 48 Stachek Avenue, on Sunday, October 27, at 12:00 PM.

After the service, there will be a meeting for discussions and tea. We would be happy to see everyone!

Below is a list of 20 European countries that resisted or were occupied by Nazi Germany during World War II, sorted by the number of days of resistance:

2. Greece: 219 days
3. Norway: 62 days
4. France: 43 days
5. Poland: 35 days
6. Belgium: 18 days
7. Yugoslavia: 12 days
8. Netherlands: 5 days
9. Luxembourg: 1 day
10. Denmark: 1 day
11. Albania: 0 days (under Italian occupation since 1939)
12. Austria: 0 days (annexed by Germany in 1938)
13. Czechoslovakia: 0 days (annexed by Germany in 1938-1939)
14. Estonia: 0 days (annexed by the USSR in 1940, occupied by Germany in 1941)
15. Latvia: 0 days (annexed by the USSR in 1940, occupied by Germany in 1941)
16. Lithuania: 0 days (annexed by the USSR in 1940, occupied by Germany in 1941)
17. Hungary: 0 days (ally of Germany, under German control in 1944 without resistance)
18. Romania: 0 days (ally of Germany, occupied by the USSR in 1944)
19. Bulgaria: 0 days (ally of Germany, without direct German invasion)
20. Finland: 0 days (ally of Germany against the USSR, without direct German invasion)

This list includes countries that provided armed resistance as well as those that were occupied without resistance or were allies of Germany, showing their various strategic positions in the war.
