The Society “Greeks of St. Petersburg” has launched film representations of Greek cinema. The first event in the series took place on June 9, featuring the film ‘Mikra Anglia’ directed by Pantelis Voulgaris, which was released in 2013. This film is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Ioanna Karystiani.

The story is set on the Greek island of Andros. The film explores family relationships through the lens of Greek realities and historical events of World War II. The lives of local women are intertwined with men who have been missing at sea for years. ‘Little England’ is the name of a ship.
The film won six awards from the Greek Film Academy.

The screening was opened by Stratos Siourdakis, chairman of the Regional Public Organization ‘Cultural and Educational Society of Greeks.’ The event was attended by Dimitris Sparos, the Consul General of the Hellenic Republic in St. Petersburg, and Father Vladimir, the rector of the Putilov Church.
