Greek Society deligation from St. Petersburg visited the Pskov region 25.01.2025

On January 25, the delegation of the Greek Society of St. Petersburg embarked on an exciting trip to the ancient and historically rich Pskov region. Despite the overcast weather and challenging road conditions, this journey provided the participants with a wealth of vivid impressions and unforgettable moments. The tour program included a visit to the Pskov Kremlin and an excursion to the Trempelis cheese dairy, where guests were warmly welcomed.

More than thirty members of the Greek Society happily joined the one-day tour. In Pskov, they had the opportunity to see the iconostasis of the Trinity Cathedral, climb the walls of the ancient Kremlin, and enjoy breathtaking views of historical sites associated with the names of Princess Olga, Alexander Nevsky, and other famous figures of Russian history. The route also included the path once taken by Princess Sophia Palaiologina, a Byzantine princess who played a significant role in Russian-Byzantine relations.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Trempelis cheese dairy, where a rich cultural program was prepared for the guests. Live music—Greek, Russian, and Italian—created a festive atmosphere. To conclude the event, participants enjoyed a magnificent dinner featuring traditional Greek dishes, such as horiatiki salad, various homemade cheeses, and lamb roasted on a spit. This evening became a true celebration for both the soul and the body.

The Greek Society of St. Petersburg expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the hosts of the cheese dairy, Stavros Trempelis and Svetlana Klimova, for their warm and hospitable reception. The trip participants hope that such meetings will become a cherished tradition, strengthening the ties between cultures. Special thanks go to the trip organizers, Dmitry Fomichev and Alexander Danilov, for the excellent organization of the event, which left all participants with the warmest memories.
