Poetry reading evening organized by the Cultural and Educational Greek Society – 26/08/2024

Dear friends,

It is a great honor for us to invite you to a literary event and poetry evening organized by the Cultural and Educational Society of Greeks in St. Petersburg on Monday, August 26, at 7:00 PM, at the House of Nationalities (Mokhovaya St., 15). Two talented and outstanding poets will read their latest works in Russian and Greek. These two nations have strong literary ties that have developed over the centuries.

For those who cannot attend the event, we would like to inform you that there will be a live online broadcast. Sergey Kasyanov, a member of the Union of Writers of Moscow and author of five poetry collections, and Nani Saridu, a Greek poet, translator, and iconographer, are looking forward to seeing you at the Greek cultural evening.

Sincerely,
Eustratios Siourdakis
Chairman of the Society of Greeks in St. Petersburg

Sergey Kasyanov:

“Dear friends!
On August 26, the long-awaited presentation of my bilingual book ‘Homeless Sky’ took place in St. Petersburg. This was made possible thanks to the personal active support of the chairman of the Society of Greeks in St. Petersburg, Stratos Siourdakis, who unfortunately was not present at the evening but sent a touching video message from Greece thanking me and translator Nani Saridu for creating literary bridges between our peoples.
The presentation took place in a beautiful hall in the former Shifter mansion, which now houses the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities. Nani Saridu – the translator and illustrator of the book – flew in from Alexandroupolis and was the host of the evening, which was broadcast online to Greece. Our acquaintance with Nani came about thanks to Vyacheslav Ananiev, and during the two-hour evening, Nani expressed many warm words of gratitude towards him. Among the engaged guests at our intimate evening were representatives of the Greek diaspora in St. Petersburg. I personally enjoyed listening to the ‘voicing’ of my poems in the language of Hellas performed by Nani. That same evening, we returned to Moscow.
I want to share the warmth of the atmosphere from that evening.”
