Representative of our “Cultural and Educational Society of Greeks”, Svetlana, visited Donetsk, where she met with the Pontic Greeks
Representative of our “Cultural and Educational Society of Greeks”, Svetlana Antropova, visited the city of Donetsk, where she met with the Pontic Greeks:
Elena Georgievna Prodan – head of the regional national-cultural autonomy of the Greeks of the Azov region.
Dmitry Pefteev – head of the national-cultural autonomy of the Greeks of Donetsk.
The purpose of the visit was to expand the socio-cultural ties of ethnic Greeks.
Svetlana learned that the Greek society in Donetsk continues its activities during these difficult times for the city, taking into account the current reality:
no large gatherings or classes for children (in Donetsk, children study online),
however, rehearsals for two dance ensembles are taking place,
people meet in small groups, celebrate Easter and Greek holidays, and support community life.
Svetlana reported that
Elena Georgievna and Dmitry
are incredibly wonderful and warm-hearted people. Their pleasant conversation took place in Greek and Russian.
They talked, laughed heartily, felt nostalgic, enjoyed delicious pie with tea, and exchanged gifts.
Svetlana was presented with a Russian-Romanian dictionary. Our society received books from a Donetsk poet who writes in Russian and Romanian, as well as other books and materials.
From the Greeks of St. Petersburg, Svetlana delivered flags and books.
We hope for fruitful cooperation and friendship between the Greeks of St. Petersburg and the Donetsk People’s Republic!
