Liturgy at the Putilov Church (in Greek) – 31/03/2024
Today, the service was held in Greek at the Putilov Church in honor of the historical date – Greece’s independence in 1821. The first governor of independent Greece was Ioannis Kapodistrias, who, together with Nesselrode, managed the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Present at the service were Dimitris Sparos, the Consul General of the Hellenic Republic in St. Petersburg, and Stratos Siourdakis, the chairman of the public organization “Cultural and Educational Society of Greeks.” In their welcoming speeches, they emphasized the historical significance of Russian-Greek friendship.
